So Far in Keeping The Moon...

I am on page 90, so I will fill you in on what has happened. The book is about this teenage girl named, Colie. She and her mom used to be obese. Everybody at school would make fun of Colie, they would call her hurtful names and everything. Her mom go involved in a Gym. She started working out their and teaching classes, then got Colie to do them too. They both lost a bunch of weight, no longer obese. Here mom is now known as the famous Kiki Sparks; the fitness guru.
For the summer Colie has to move to North Carolina with her Aunt Mira, while her mom is out getting interviewed around the world. Her aunt and Norman (her neighbor/friend) are art freaks, they go to yard sales 24/7. All the things in Aunt Mira's house is somewhat broken, and she never has the time to fix them. As the book goes on, Colie gets a job at the Last Chance. (a restaurant that Aunt Mira is in love with and Norman also works their.) She meets 2 people that she has to work with. Their names are Morgan and Isabel. They live together. (Morgan is older the Colie and Isabel.) Morgan is more nice, while Isabel judges people, well not really judge people but ask why they have/ wear the things that they do.
The part that I just finished reading was, one day when Colie was working with Isabel, because Morgan has the day off. When the lunch rush was all over a couple of teenage girls came in for a take-out. Colie thought she recognized her voice. When she ran into her it was Caroline. She is a girl at Colie's old school where she used to live that always made fun of her and called her names about being fat. Colie thought she was going to change and not make fun of her, but when she sees Colie she starts to laugh. Caroline goes and tells her friend about what she used to call her and everything. Isabel noticed this little incadent and takes Colie to her house. She decides to give her a new look- pluck her eyebrows, and fix her hair color.
That's all for right now... if you want more information guess you are just going have to read the book.

  1. Taylor,

Your book reminds me some of what I just read about Brittney's. Both books have female main characters who struggle with their weight and have to deal with the people in their lives (peers, teachers, etc) teasing them because of their weight.

Maybe after you finish reading the other Sarah Dessen books, you'd want to check it out to see if it's something you'd be interested in.
